We're good, all right, we'll call the meeting order at 6.01. We have, we know who is here. There's no correspondence that I'm aware of. No. Public comments. Is anyone here for public comment? Okay. Then we move on to the. Minutes from May. Make a motion to approve. Thank you. Thank you. Second. Thank you. All those in favor? Aye. Invoices for May. That motion to approve as well. Second. Was there anything out of the ordinary this month? We're paying a little bit more for maintenance because we've had additional. Issues with HVAC that were prior to. The install of the new air. So as of right now. Everything's working. Okay. First time in about two years. But yeah, there's additional. Cost there. Okay. All right. So we have a motion and a second. All those in favor? Aye. Revenue and expense report. So we're doing pretty good except. Under. We're a little bit over. On the building maintenance and that's that extra repair. And. Little parts cost a lot of money now. Unfortunately, we can't get out of it. So hopefully we won't have a lot of other building maintenance issues for the rest of the year. But all in all where we're. We're pretty right on track X really. We still have a little extra for the year. And you may see that we do have a large amount in. In the. In the book, but we're working really hard on. We're spending that. I'll make a motion to approve the revenue and expense report. I'll second. Thank you. All those in favor? Directors report. We're still fully staffed. Awesome. We haven't had this for a really long time. We're no one's leaving. So it's great. You're used to statistics are at the end of the report. And those are pretty self explanatory. Building update. So I just want to let you know that. I sent the information to Rob. Actually, he asked for it the next day of regarding the parking lot lighting. So he was going to get back to me. There's still a few. We're still waiting to get. The book lock are installed. We're waiting for the electrician. That's been a challenge. And. That's about it. Just we gave a lot of excess computer equipment. We took advantage of that free. Recycling event on last Friday. We didn't give them computers. All the computers are going to go to. The library system and they clean them out a little. They basically rip out the hard drive, but everything else was really old stuff that was not working. Okay. So new business. So the board is. Should elect. So we just have a president. Vice president and secretary. As I recall, we haven't done. They would really like us to start. Electing new officers on a yearly basis. Last time we did this was about, I think, two years ago. So. We can. If you'd like, we can table this until next month. Because we do have a new board member who wasn't able to attend. So I'm okay of. Well, it's the boards. Okay. Sorry. No, that's fine. I think that would be. Best. Because I'm going to kind of jump ahead to an item I was going to leave to the end, but we have a retiring member. On the board here with Jane. So we want to say thank you for your service to the board and congratulations on your retirement. Thank you so much. Yeah, I think I think for me, I'm fine as well. So I guess. I make a motion to table the election of board offices until the July 2026 meeting. Second. Thank you. All those in favor. So the next item. The mayor would like all board members to attend member training. Those are the dates. The one date. Please let Carrie know if you can attend either one of them. It's just a review of the expectations of. A board members and. You know, the goal is to know have a productive. Board to everyone get the invite or like at least an email from the assistance. Okay. All of a sudden carry a note to get it to everyone then. Okay. Oh, they did not. I did as an older, but I don't. I don't recall seeing one. I'll have Carrie email the board members. That means that. Well, no, I will send it out as well. Oh, go for a time. Thanks. Yeah. It's July 15th. There's a session in the morning. There's a session in the evening, but. Thanks Tom. Yeah. I really thought they went out. To all the board members. Okay. Now he's gonna. Okay. So the next item. There are training opportunities for board members. This is developed by the library office of DPI. I still call it the library office. It has a different name. But these are really good. Training. And I just realized that I don't have the link in here for you to sign up. So I will, you'll be getting both those emails tomorrow. I would recommend that. You, if you could at least. Go. Go to the webinar regarding AI and libraries. There are a lot of issues coming up. Regarding privacy. Regarding. How vendors are using AI. Some libraries have a very detailed policy. I don't think we're there yet. I mean, it's the one I saw it was four pages long. But there are some. Things for you to think about because it is rapidly changing their online, their online webinars, Tom. Yeah. And then, you know, it's a good review of Wisconsin library law. You know, we've already we're doing pretty good with collaborating with our community. But that. Also is a good opportunity to review. Some of the different strategies the board could take a look at. Do you happen to know if any of these webinars will cover off on relationships between libraries and friends groups and nonprofits. Not. Not that I'm aware this is the schedule they have for this year. So they usually have trustee training in August. So, but. You're more than willing to go to send them an email and offer suggestions and different workshops. Are there any questions. That's good. And I, if I recall, these will be recorded. And I think they're available for like three to four months. Okay. For 2027. So you do have the budget process overview. There was a department head meeting on last Tuesday. Just to mark went through the schedule. I have not seen the capital plan yet. I don't know where the library. Is on that on the list. We were supposed to get a copy, but we haven't. I haven't received a copy out of the final plan. And then the whole operating budget. That really will pertain to us. I. Don't plan on really asking for much. So maybe an increase in the materials budget because the prices keep going up. And, and that's mainly with the digital content. You know, we've been looking at the use of. Hoopla. And it's still being used quite a bit. And it's very interesting. As a reminder, we actually got it for the movies, but it's audio books that. It's still number one. It's still averaging about $700 a month. And I am saving money in the budget to cover that through the rest of the year. So we may have to talk in August about. If we want to continue. I'm there is one thing you should be aware of. Overdrive, which is in our main vendor for digital books. Was unfortunately bought by private equity firm. And just talking to a few people. They are a little worried at the state. That they're, I mean, from what I haven't gotten confirmation, they've already told them prices are going up. And, you know, we've already the two year budget for the state. It's already passed. So we may have to offer a little more for digital content and 27. It hasn't been. We haven't gotten any cost or anything, but. Unfortunately, when private equity take over. A company. It's not like usually best for the customer. It's. So. We'll have to wait and see. Hopefully, we'll know sooner rather than later. About if there's going to be any additional costs. I know the. The Monoch library system is looking at this very closely and. Making sure. Knowing. Making sure they know what's going on, because. This is the main. Resource that the state uses to provide. Digital content to all. State residents. And we were overdrive the largest customer. So. Yeah, it could be interesting. Everyone were really doing well with their digital content and make it. And they get a little rocky. Tom. When you said about who will be in 700 a month, put that in perspective. Is it possible to find out how many. Audio books are being. Accessed through that. You know, where the 700 might sound like a lot, but if there's a lot of content being used. The cost per item. You know, might bring that back into more reasonable. It's heavily used. I think that remember correctly with 500 auto audio books. Okay. Yeah, so it's like about a dollar and a half dollar and a quarter per book. Right. Which seems really reasonable. Right. So is it possible that hoopla could fill the. Overdrive. Space or at least help to close that gap and. It could for. Definitely. The. Audio book component. They don't have the collection size that overdrive has. In terms of the digital, the. The traditional print book. So. It's. Overdrive's print and digital. Well, no, overdrive. They, their specialty has always been ebooks. Okay. And then. They have had audio books as well. But they're restricted. Okay. One of the changes. The differences with hoopla. They have different. Contracts with the publishers. And. They don't have the restrictions like. So a really popular book can go out. Multiple times. Whereas in overdrive only one person can have it. So it depends on how many copies of the book they have. So there's much more flexibility with hoopla. But that could also change. That's. That's why we got to keep. A good eye on on both companies because. And then there's the whole publishers and what. They want to start charging. Just a reminder publishers are not friends of the library. They're not friends of the library. Okay. Their goal is to make as much money as they can. You know, so we met. Just a reminder. We're the state pays $76 or more. For a copy of an ebook. For one. And once I have titles used 26 times. They got to buy it again. So. There are there is legislation. I know a la is really working on. I know a lot of people are working on the library. But. That's going to be it's going to take a while to get in my view to get that passed. We're having state buildings on database. Pardon. We're having the state buildings on database and purchase the books out. Right. Yes. That's massive. I don't see the state doing that. They don't have the infrastructure in place. Yeah. There are states that are doing that. I believe Colorado is one state. But. We'll just have to wait and see. Thank you. Yeah, publishers are there to make money, not to. Right. Give away things. Yeah. But. Good news. The Senate summer reading program kicked off. Yes. We already have 572 people signed up. The kickoff event was very successful. People of the. The presenter. Staff did a tremendous job. Organizing and making Iran smoothly. And hats off extra hats off to. They did all the planning. The first story time in the following week. There was 90 people there, which may be a record. Just for. A traditional story time. Says the library. Is being used. We have definitely seen. An increase of traffic and. You know, this is a standard practice for when the economy is. Kind of goofy. And people look for ways to. Be a little more frugal and the library will definitely see an increase. In usage, but. There's a lot of great programs for the next two months. So please promote the program to family because it is for adults. Deans. Not just kids. And. And we're hoping. We can beat 800. That's like the record is 800. That was pre-COVID. But. I don't know if you've read this or have seen this, but. Unfortunately, the statistics regarding. Reading and reading comprehension. It's falling. Well, as. Folks in the school board. No, I mean, you see the statistics, but it's all also happening with adults. Adults just reading in general is way down. So we're going to continue to promote. The positive aspects of literacy. I just want to say thank you to the whole staff at the library. I know it takes a village in all hands on deck whenever I go in there and the fact that. Different departments are helping the kids department out. It's wonderful and circulation is huge and planning. A lot of time and effort goes into planning a program. That's weeks long and to get those kids to read in those parents in here. So thank you. Oh, you're welcome. And I'll have to staff now. Yeah, thank you. So the next item. Is. We've been approached by a rep of representative. From B three. The gentleman is here. Joel. Right, Joel. Sorry. Geribald names. They have started a cool program. In Port Washington and would like the library to participate. And there's no reason we are. We can't. So it's where they will bring seniors. To the library. Using an electric. Trisha. Am I saying that correctly? There is a picture of a trisha. It's not the exact one. But we're like, I talked to staff and they're like, Oh, yeah, we should do this. We can do this. We already have. A working relationship with harbor house. And that's where the trishars are kept. So. I just need a yes from the board and we'll start working with. With Joel, if anyone has any questions for Joel regarding the program, you know, it started in Denmark. You know, it's just, it's just a positive. It's positive all the way around. And, you know, we'll, we'll try and see what happens. Is there any expense to it? Mm hmm. Is there an expense? No. Everything's covered. I think that's fantastic. I mean, and coming off of your reading comprehension. This is the muscles behind it. Yes. But the program, like briefly, like who you give rides to and what it. The outreach that you have so far. You would need to. We need your address in your first part. There you go. Joel Weinberger. One zero zero two West Laraby street. Washington. We've started cycling without age. In 2020, the year of the COVID. And it was really our prep year. So right now, this is our fifth full year of providing rides to seniors. And each year we expand. We just do a little bit more. Our first tri Shaw came from B three. And most of the money. For the rest of it came from the rotary club. And we've got our first tri Shaw. In the following year, we got a second tri Shaw. And then the following year, we said, heck, how are we going to move these around? We got a trailer. And the. Fourth year, we decided that we were going to try to expand into the community, give more rides. And my goal this year was to get another tri Shaw. So that turned out rather quickly in March, we had our third tri Shaw. So here in poor Washington, we have two. And that's kept at Harbor campus, which is a Capri community. And there's also a community in Grafton. And that's where our third tri Shaw sets. So. The program started in Denmark around 2012. And there's a TED talk in 2014, and they were all excited. They're moving from five cities in Denmark. To Norway. And right now cycling without ages in approximately 52 countries. So it's really, really grown in a matter of 10 years. The amount of enjoyment I get and the rest. People that drive everybody around were called pilots. But the amount of enjoyment we get taking the people out is just unbelievable. It's some of these ladies will tell you stories. And we just laugh and laugh. Very, very interesting. And what are the biggest things we take people out from memory care. And I wish the families would ride along. Once we're out and we start talking, you would think, why are these people in memory care? They don't seem to have dementia or Alzheimer. And unfortunately, they do. And it's just unbelievable getting them out into the fresh air. Seeing that, you know, where they grew up in the lake. And I think there's been quite a few comments. Right. Walked on memory lane by getting out and these bikes and these pilots are. It's huge. I wish I could record the history because these people will ride out. They'll be riding along. They'll tell me the original owners of all the homes. It's just incredible. How do you handle the hill when you go eat the library? It's called an e-bike. It's an assist. We don't say it's cheating. Any other questions? I make motion to approve. Thanks, Sean. You're welcome. Thank you. We have a motion. I'll second. We've got all kinds of seconds. I think then. I will ask for a vote, but I mean, I need to. All those in favor. Yeah, I think that's a great, a great thing and being one person at a time. Can you bring two? Okay. So I will be working with Alyssa. She's going to oversee it and we'll get an article in the paper, get some pictures, hopefully, and we're going to try to get to started right away. And it just actually fits in nicely. We do have a very successful memory care program with the county with that meets at the library. You know, there may be ways to partner and, you know, and do some additional things. I mean, I'm just thinking out loud, but I think this is a great collaboration and. You know, thanks to be three for setting. An example, because this program has fat has spread quickly across the United States. It's they have it and they have it in a lot of Wisconsin communities. And so it's great that ports going to participate. As long as we're public here, do we need any more pilots or we set on pilots? We always encourage you. Yes, we are looking for anybody who's interested in piloting in triasha. It's a fairly intensive training program. Designed by Wisconsin bike. Specifically for second. Okay. Thank you. Okay. We've been under the possible action on fines and fee policy. So. We talked about city fees at the department had meeting and Tuesday. And it's my understanding other departments. We were encouraged not to really raise them since fees have gone up a lot. And other divisions. So, and so doing. So we keep in schedule with the city. I just need a vote. I don't plan on. I don't think we need to raise fines or fees at this moment. So if anyone has any questions. It looks like maximum prices, $10, right? That's the most you have to pay if you were delinquent. Yes. Okay. So we really. Try to get the material back. So we will waive fines as we can get the material back. If it goes to collection agency. We, we don't waive the collection fee. That's the only thing we don't. We don't do. But, you know. I wish we. We can address this maybe next year is we wouldn't charge kids. For fines. But at this time, we need that revenue. But yeah, so. I think our fees are fine to be very reasonable. Move to approve. Thank you. Second. Thank you. All those in favor. So the last is. You need to vote on the rules of conduct. We've made the recommended changes. There, there's not a really good city ordinance that pertains directly to. Library vandalism, that type of stuff. So I just took that out. Because either way, if any of it have, we just call the police and. Fortunately, nothing like that has happened. And. But I think. Our expectations. For page and behavior. Fowls with other libraries. Are doing. Motion to approve. Thank you. Second. Thank you. All those in favor. Okay. There's nothing else on the agenda. Motion to adjourn. Second. Thank you. All those in favor. We are adjourned. Thanks everyone.
