I'm Martha White, your host for "Teaching Through Technology", a continuing series which highlights classroom uses of technology. From chalkboards to electronic whiteboards, drawing tables to drawing software, teachers have always adapted technology tools to help their students learn. With technology changing faster than ever before, educators are challenged to integrate these new tools into their teaching in meaningful ways. In each program, teachers will share their ideas and techniques for using a wide variety of technology tools to enhance learning for all of their students. Dissolve to full screen video montage of video clips In this program we look at a variety of best practices for using technology in the classroom. First we will see middle school students at Glen Hills compose their own music with the help of a Milwaukee Symphony mentor. Then we'll meet a group of students creating their own Interactive Video Yearbook at Kewaunee Middle School. Finally we'll join the whole school at Stephen Bull Fine Arts School in Racine as they use "green screen" technology with the help of an artist in residence. Head turn CAM 2 monitor Communicating successfully and memorably is just the beginning of what's going on at the Stephen Bull Fine arts school in Racine. With artist in residence Rob Miller's help, the whole school is using "green screen" technology to meld their taped images and scanned in hand drawn art in a truly awesome animation. TAPE SEGMENT Rob Miller at Stephen Bull Fine arts School in Racine Segment H & Sh CAM 1 At Stephen Bull the parents group was key in developing the project now they plan to sell copies of the final project to fund their next venture. Where there's a will there's definitely a way at Stephen Bull! Head turn CAM 2 Monitor Our thanks to the teachers and students from the Glendale and Kewaunee and Racine School Districts. The educators you have seen today have demonstrated a medley of ways to use new tools to enhance teaching and learning. By experimenting with these technologies, they are discovering different ways to teach and to relate to their students. We hope that this program has sparked your imagination, and added a few new images to your vision of teaching through technology. Until next time, I'm Martha White.
