Good afternoon, everyone.
Thank you so much for joining us today.
This is a momentous occasion for us celebrating our 50th Varsity Band
concert.
The first concert was in March 1975 in Mills concert hall.
We've come a long way.
Now we're here at the co-center and we hope that you have a good time.
That first song was a UW band classic.
The horse, it was a hit back in 1968.
A special person took over the program in 1969.
So my thinking is that we've probably been playing the horse at least that long.
This next one is from one of the greatest musicals of all time.
Certainly within the last 25 years, I'm talking about Wicked.
We've got some Wicked fans over here.
The music of Steven Schwartz brought to life by two powerhouse vocalists.
And it was recently adapted into a couple of blockbuster movies starring Cynthia
Rivo and Ariana Grande.
Here is our take on Wicked.
MUSIC
CHEERING
Last September marked the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
So we did a musical tribute to the greatest generation in observance of Veterans Day.
All of the tunes that we are about to play were popular during that time.
To help us perform this music, please welcome Miss Lindy Cashdollar along with the meet
with the School of Music Trio.
On keys, Dr. Dan Kevinon, Director of the School of Music.
On bass, Ben Ferris.
And you already met our drummer, Dr. Matthew Ingers, on the kit.
This is classics from the greatest generation.
